It is not to blame on the so called populist spokesmen you are reffering to. It is to blame on the leftist parties that have fed us up with these so called immigration since the 1960s. Yes we needed employment then and yes we had profit from these people but most of the soutern europeans have returned to their homelands. The muslim immigrants came and stayed because they have never intended to go back to build up their poorly developed countries full of wise regilious men and corruption. They stayed and did not intergrate into our western society because they never feld similair with our traditions and our believes.
Hai Heather,,,

The common wedding in Indonesia is, the bride and groom will be seated on a stage. Next to them are their parents, so it would be man and woman. Actually, if one of the parent doesn't have a partner, the empty seat will be fill with other relatives, could be the uncle/aunt, brother/sister. One time my mom told me she attended this one wedding reception, the groom is foreigner, his parents couldn't make it to the wedding, soon their role was replace by the bride relatives.

So, I guess u can have so many options to find the 'man' for u at the wedding.

Thanks. I am just about to experience such a wedding. My son will be marrying his Indonesian girlfriend and I didnt know what to expect except that it will be huge. The other problem I face is that I am a widow and my son says there needs to be a man accompanying me. I dont have one! Did you know that? Is it true?
I am not looking forward to it very much as I dont enjoy large social gatherings, however, your blog did help me to see some of the good sides too.

"if the employer can’t “fork out” the fees up front, why don’t they just take care of their own household and clean up after themselves?" typical hatred for the wealthy- or, "wealthIER". There seems to be an awful lot of propaganda against the non-menial classes, disguised Marxism perhaps? Singaporeans aren't inherently cruel to amahs, they're simply insulting and cruel (not always.. ) to those in lesser positions than they are- shoe shiners, wait staff, you name it. Amahs aren't being beaten and insulted as a matter of course, either. Most- yes MOST are thought of as members of the family. They choose housekeeping as their career, not forced.
